Pet safety information

Essential oils may harm animals through ingestion, skin contact or inhalation. Risk varies by species, product, concentration and method of exposure.

Do not apply essential oils to an animal, add them to food or water, or use them to treat an animal unless directed by a veterinarian. Keep bottles and diffuser liquid out of reach of animals.

Higher-risk oils

Some oils are specifically associated with poisoning risk in animals. Where we have product-specific information, the product page shows a stronger notice such as a specific pet warning or guidance to avoid use around pets.

Cats, birds and reptiles

These animals may be especially sensitive to essential oils and airborne fragrances. Seek advice from a veterinarian experienced with the relevant species before diffusing essential oils in their living environment.

What we do not claim

We do not market essential oils as risk-free for animals, suitable for animals, or free of toxicity concerns. An absence of known reports is not proof of safety. We also do not recommend using essential oils to treat animals.
