doTERRA IKISE™ vs Veráge®: What Has Changed and How to Make the Switch

If you have used doTERRA Veráge® for years, the news that the range is being discontinued may feel like the end of a familiar skincare ritual. The good news is that doTERRA has not simply removed Veráge® without an alternative. Following the introduction of IKISE™ around 12 months ago, the newer range has become doTERRA’s more advanced, Japanese-inspired skincare system.

Veráge® has served customers well with a simple four-step routine focused on cleansing, toning, hydration and moisturising. IKISE™ builds on that foundation with a more complete layering ritual, modern skincare actives, Humic Shale, CPTG® essential oils and products designed to support hydration, brightness, texture and firmness. 

Why is Veráge® being discontinued?

Veráge® was developed as a straightforward skincare collection using naturally derived ingredients, plant extracts, emollients and CPTG® essential oils. The collection included a cleanser, toner, hydrating serum and moisturiser, making it easy to follow and suitable for customers who preferred a simple routine. 

IKISE™ takes that same natural wellness approach further. It introduces a broader seven-product ritual, Japanese-inspired layering, targeted treatment products and a wider selection of recognised skincare ingredients. Based on the information provided, doTERRA is now phasing out Veráge® after the successful introduction of IKISE™.

How the cleansers compare

Veráge® Cleanser is a gel cleanser formulated with Wild Orange, Tea Tree and Basil essential oils. It also contains naturally derived cleansing agents, glycerin, amino acid-based ingredients and citrus extracts to help remove dirt and makeup while supporting hydration. 

IKISE™ offers two cleansing options. The Cleansing Balm is designed as the first step in an evening double cleanse, helping dissolve makeup, sunscreen and impurities. The Face Wash then provides a gentle foaming cleanse with glycerin, lauric acid, coconut-derived cleansers, jojoba oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Humic Shale and Lime, Litsea and Petitgrain essential oils. 

For Veráge® users, the IKISE™ Face Wash is the closest everyday replacement for the Veráge® Cleanser. The Cleansing Balm is an additional option for those who wear makeup, use sunscreen or prefer a more thorough evening cleanse.

How the toner step has changed

Veráge® Toner was a refreshing mist containing Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, Ylang Ylang, Palmarosa, Cypress and Coriander essential oils. It was designed to tone, refresh and prepare the skin for serum and moisturiser. 

IKISE™ replaces the traditional toner concept with the Smooth & Rich Lotion. Despite the name, it is a lightweight hydrating preparation step rather than a conventional face cream. It contains Niacinamide, Glycerin, Gluconolactone, Frankincense essential oil, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Humic Shale, Vitamin C and fermented botanical extracts. 

This is a significant upgrade for customers who want more than a refreshing mist. The IKISE™ lotion is designed to hydrate, refine the appearance of pores, improve tone and prepare the skin for the serum that follows.

How the serums compare

Veráge® Salubelle Hydrating Serum focused primarily on hydration and smoother-looking skin. Its formula included Jojoba and Macadamia seed oil esters, Squalene, Phytosterols, Vitamin E and the essential oils of Frankincense, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum and Rose.

IKISE™ Smooth & Rich Dual Serum is a more treatment-focused product. It combines Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Gluconolactone, Squalane, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Frankincense essential oil, Humic Shale, Vitamin C, Coix Seed Extract and Vitamin B12. The bi-phase formula is shaken before use to combine the essence and oil layers. 

Both products support hydration, but the IKISE™ serum also places greater emphasis on brightness, texture, tone and firmness.

How the moisturisers compare

Veráge® Moisturiser was a light, non-greasy moisturiser formulated with Aloe Vera, Glycerin, Soybean Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Shea Butter and the essential oils of Juniper Berry, Sea Buckthorn Berry, Jasmine and Geranium. It was designed to moisturise and support healthy-looking skin.

IKISE™ Day & Night Face Cream uses Squalane, Meadow Seed Oil, Beeswax, Niacinamide, Gluconolactone, Humic Shale, Vitamin C, Buntan essential oil, Copaiba essential oil and fermented Camellia extract. It is designed to seal in hydration, support the skin barrier and leave the skin feeling nourished without heaviness. 

The IKISE™ cream is also formulated for both morning and evening use. The Buntan essential oil used in the cream is described in the IKISE™ eBook as furocoumarin-free, meaning it is intended to avoid the photosensitivity concerns associated with some citrus oils. 

The additional products Veráge® did not have

One of the clearest advantages of IKISE™ is the addition of specialised products.

The Intensive Eye Cream is designed for the delicate eye area and includes Rose essential oil, Squalane, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Arnica, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It is intended to support hydration and reduce the appearance of puffiness, fatigue and fine lines. 

The Booster Oil contains Argan Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Geranium essential oil, Humic Shale, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc Gluconate and Copper Gluconate. It can be used to add extra nourishment to dry areas or layered into the ritual when the skin needs more support. 

These additions make IKISE™ more adaptable than Veráge®, particularly for people with dry, mature, combination or seasonally changing skin.

The role of Humic Shale

Humic Shale is one of the defining ingredients in IKISE™. The eBook describes it as a mineral-rich substance derived from ancient organic plant matter compressed in the earth over millions of years. It is included throughout the range to support mineral nourishment, clarity, texture and skin renewal. 

Humic Shale was not part of the Veráge® collection, so this represents one of the more distinctive formulation changes between the two ranges.

Essential oils in Veráge® and IKISE™

Both ranges reflect doTERRA’s essential oil heritage, but the oil profiles are different.

Veráge® used oils such as Wild Orange, Tea Tree, Basil, Ylang Ylang, Palmarosa, Cypress, Coriander, Frankincense, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum, Rose, Juniper Berry, Sea Buckthorn Berry, Jasmine and Geranium. 

IKISE™ uses a more unified fragrance and skincare profile built around Litsea, Lime, Petitgrain, Buntan, Geranium, Rose, Frankincense and Copaiba. The eBook describes these oils as creating layered fresh, floral and grounding notes across the complete ritual. 

Which range is simpler?

Veráge® is the simpler system. With only four products, it suits customers who want a short, uncomplicated routine.

IKISE™ is more flexible. You do not need to use all seven products every time, but the range allows you to add or remove steps according to your skin type.

For example, the IKISE™ eBook suggests:

• normal skin may use the Face Wash, Lotion, Dual Serum and Face Cream
• dry skin may add Booster Oil and extra layers of Lotion
• combination skin may use Booster Oil only on dry zones
• the Cleansing Balm and Eye Cream can be added as needed. 

Which range offers more advanced skincare?

Based on the product information provided, IKISE™ is the more advanced range.

Veráge® remains a well-designed natural skincare collection, but IKISE™ adds ingredients such as Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Gluconolactone, Squalane, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, fermented botanical extracts and Humic Shale. 

IKISE™ is also positioned around hydration, firmness, brightness and texture, while Veráge® focused more broadly on cleansing, toning, moisturising and reducing the visible signs of ageing.

A different approach to ageing

Veráge® was promoted as a collection that could help reduce the visible signs of ageing.

IKISE™ uses a different message: “Ageing Better, Not Anti-Ageing.” The range is designed to support skin vitality, resilience and radiance rather than presenting ageing as something to fight. 

This makes IKISE™ feel more aligned with modern wellness values and the idea of caring for your skin at every stage of life.

Customers who loved the simplicity of Veráge® can still keep their IKISE™ routine straightforward by using the Face Wash, Smooth & Rich Lotion, Smooth & Rich Dual Serum and Day & Night Face Cream as their core products.

Making the transition

As Veráge® is phased out, it may be helpful to introduce IKISE™ one product at a time. Begin with the Face Wash and Day & Night Face Cream, then add the Lotion and Dual Serum once your skin is comfortable with the new routine.

Always patch test new skincare, avoid direct contact with the eyes and discontinue use if irritation occurs. Individual skin responses can vary, particularly when introducing several new products at once.
